Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense

A great resource for rapidly searching public documents and research reports for specific topics or quotes. I often use it to see what we or others have said externally on various topics, quickly search through years of SEC filings, or find research reports on specific topics or companies. The Boolean search allows for very targeted searching, which is critical when dealing with such a large database of info.

Pros

  • Specific Boolean search.
  • Quick and easy document export (with search highlights).
  • Large database covering years of important documents.
  • Good entitlements to research reports.

Cons

  • More broker entitlements.
  • Could include consensus data.
  • More efficient tracking of public disclosures.
  • Faster responses to ad hoc requests for information.
  • Better competitive insights.
I like it way more than other tools I have used like IR Insight or Evaluate, though the functions are all different and those others do have some useful tools at Alpha Sense could add, like drug databases or consensus data.
The alert feature has been useful in surfacing key documents or transcripts relevant to our team and strategies. It is a great tool to help organize and sift through massive amounts of information and provide the most useful items without much effort.

It might not be the right tool for everyone, but I can see a use case for almost any team in a corporate setting. CI teams will find it useful to search competitor data, IR teams can use it to read Sell Side reports and track public disclosures, and finance or financial reporting teams can use it to rapidly read and review SEC filings. Overall a useful tool that I highly recommend.
