Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense

We use Alphasense to conduct market research during our investment evaluation stage of deals in order to understand the market the business is in. The platform has been extremely helpful streamlining the multiple sources to get targeted search results cutting down time used to get to those results. Previously our firm was a user of Sentieo and Alphasense has been an upgraded platform with better search results.

Pros

  • Detailed key word search
  • Intuitive system design
  • Content especially in anonymous expert calls

Cons

  • Content sourcing where there some times a lot of generic news sources that are not helpful
  • International company searches are not as easy (ex. Korean / Japanese companies)
  • Clean up of company search function where there may be multiple entities for same company
  • More informed decisions
  • Crucial data found
  • Efficiency / productivity gained
I have previously used Sentieo and felt that AlphaSense is much easier to use and were providing better targeted search results. It is easier to filter through search results by sources. The highlighted effect and search through was available on Sentieo as well but felt that movement from one document to the next was faster on AlphaSense.
Yes, easier to get information and faster grasp of the market / industry. However, would say sometimes there are too many search results that come up of news sources where they are just copies / re-report of other news sources without much content. Would be great if AlphaSense could monitor and limit search results from those sources.
As described previously, similar function but AlphaSense is easier to use

Alpha sense was well suited to search for particular topics in well covered industries and segment by equity research / public company reports. It is less appropriate for search through industry journals as there seem to be limited sources that come up on search results versus filings / equity research reports. Additionally search for non-North America / non-European companies are tough.
