Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense
Alphasense doesn't add new information to the table, rather, it makes finding information extremely quick and easy. The value add is convenience. There are some features (like sentiment analysis) that seek to provide new insights, but I do not find these as useful. Its value is in consolidating a bunch of different resources and making it easy to search through (and take notes directly).
Pros
- News monitoring
- Document searching
- Note taking
Cons
- transcript replays should sync with the location in document (instead of starting from beginning)
- it's a little unclear how to make notifications
- UX can be unnecessarily complex... AS should just stick to doing what it does best no need to complicate features
- Efficiency is at least 20% faster compared to FactSet or google
- Improves confidence
- Helps finder deeper cuts of data within the landscape
Alphasense has a feature that enables real-time alerts. I find myself less impressed by this feature. I can set up RSS alerts on most websites that I track, or I receive FactSet news alerts. Both of these are generally faster than Alphasense. However, Alphasense can pull across a broader set of data, so it is a better resource for monitoring more off-the-beaten-path events or topics.
I view FactSet as a 'must have' (or Bloomberg), and alphasense as a 'nice to have.' However, the combo of the two is really powerful and I am able to get way more work done vs only having one. Alphasense is quicker and much more sophisticated. However, I think it lacks the same amount of vetting as FactSet.
