Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense

Access to various information sources in one setting is a ‘problem’ for analysts. AlphaSense helpfully solves this. Creating a research database that is user-friendly is another ‘problem’. AlphaSense solves this to some extent because it is pretty easy to use and comes with some easy tools for searching particular phrases that other platforms lack.
  • Aggregates information.
  • Searches for keywords.
  • Combines research from different sources.
  • Adding more management details.
  • Info on share ownership and how it has evolved from.
  • Summarising broker recommendations.
  • Easy information finding.
  • Easy extraction of data.
  • Access to more info more easily.
I rate this highly because I find AlphaSense to be a very valuable source of information. It sometimes feels like cheating because sources that I previously might have fought for are so readily available. I can’t give it full marks because there is still some friction for me - it doesn’t give me everything I need (eg management, valuation, share info) and sometimes gives me too much of what I don’t need.
This is tricky because while access to information is improved, my job seeks ‘insight’ (the ability to find or feel something that is not captured by the market). The increased availability of info means investment cases can be overthought and with so much info, it is hard to shift to the insight phase.
AlphaSense is more user-friendly and easier to load, manage and extract info from. Bloomberg remains a default for me and provides more ‘live’ info and financial info, which AlphaSense currently lacks.

Do you think AlphaSense delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with AlphaSense's feature set?

Yes

Did AlphaSense live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of AlphaSense go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy AlphaSense again?

Yes

AlphaSense is best suited when I want to find a particular piece of info about a company I am researching. E.g., if I want to know what company X is doing for auto companies, I could search ‘X’ and ‘auto sales’ and see what shows. I can find interesting leads in this way. Another scenario is when I am trying to do a scuttlebutt. Typically I would reach out to product users, reviewers (etc.), but I have often found expert calls to be a great alternative/additional source.
