Overall Satisfaction with Alteryx

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In my organization, we use Alteryx to solve many different business challenges. I’ve used to build reports for SOX testing, to support internal audit projects with analytics (for faster and more accurate testing), I’ve used it to retrieve data from SAP easily, and many more. Alteryx is really a very versatile tool and has a user friendly interface, which makes our work a lot easier. What I also like about Alteryx is how you can user the server the store your workflows, schedule time for it to run automatically, all those details are really important for me because they make my daily work routine much more efficient.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Alteryx has a user friendly interface, low code, which makes it easier for those who are not used to programming to use it.
Alteryx has basically all the tools necessary for data analysis, data science, even data engineering, so I don’t have to use other applications for this, everything is centralized on Alteryx.
Alteryx is fast, so even if you have a big workflow with lots of big data to be processed, Alteryx has the right tools to make it faster and process in-database, which is great.

Cons

I actually only have one point of improvement: I would like to be able to browse my dataset without having to run the workflow every time I add a new step.

Return on Investment

Alteryx helped save Internal Auditors time by doing analysis they would do manually and take hours. Saving time is saving money. I used Alteryx to find matching records between two datasets so the Auditors would only analyze the records that didn’t match - if they were to do it manually, it would take hours - for me using Alteryx, it took 10 minutes.
Alteryx was also great to bring closer the data workers at the company - using the same tool we were able to have a better connection, better insights and it saved a lot of our time by avoiding us to have to work it multiple tools and depend on other people who had access to these tools to help us.
I also build a report using Alteryx that avoided having the company pay for a third party tool that would cost over $100,000/year. Using Alteryx I treated the data and connected it to Power BI.

Performance

I never had any issues with this on Alteryx, I only had errors when I actually made a mistake. Most of my workflows run pretty smoothly, I never had any issues, not even with them in the server. This is good, because it makes you trust the tool and not have to worry about it crashing.

Alternatives Considered

I used ACL before so all my scripts were written in SQL and it was not low code at all. After me and my team started using Alteryx, we moved all the scripts to workflows in Alteryx, it took some time, but works way better than ACL, it is faster and easier to maintain it any changes have to be done.

Likelihood to Recommend

I would 100% recommend Alteryx to a friend, for me its friendly interface is the best, it has all the tools I need without the headache that programming is. It can be used for simple or complex analysis, so honestly, I don’t see a scenario where it wouldn’t suit. I’ve used Alteryx to make simple things I could do in Excel, for example, but it was less complex and faster to do in Alteryx, so why not? Its a very versatile tool.
