Overall Satisfaction with Amazon API Gateway
We use the [Amazon] API Gateway across the enterprise. Today it is our main communication channel, when it comes to APIs, because it is quite robust, and at the same time flexible enough to be managed and used in the daily activities of different teams, with the necessary security controls. It solved a problem of centralization, simplified management and access control of the APIs.
Pros
- Centralized Management
- Easy Interface
- Connection with external resources
Cons
- VPC Connection Management
- Positive, which accelerated business deliveries in months
- Negative, but in our positive case, if you are going to change the solution in the future, you need to adjust several things for the new solution.
- Positive, users celebrated with ease of use (lower learning curve, lower cost).
- Positive - Pay according to usage
When we tested Azure API Management at the time, it had serious connectivity issues, it was very unstable, and it needed to do a lot using the command line. Comparing with the AWS solution, which was more mature, and the fact that we have services in use on AWS, we ended up choosing to continue using AWS products. This so as not to run the risk of increasing latency in accesses, and of some functionality not working, due to being developed yet.
