Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We're using AppRiver across our entire organization, for spam filtering, e-mail, and Microsoft Office licensing. We had a problematic on-premise Exchange server that needed to be retired, and our former spam filtering service wasn't accurate enough, so moving to AppRiver addressed both of these issues.

Alternatives Considered

Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Exchange

Initially we were using Microsoft Office 365 for licensing, an on-premise Exchange server for e-mail, and The E-mail Laundry for spam filtering. After months of unsuccessful attempts to migrate our e-mail to Office 365, AppRiver was the only solution that successfully performed the migration, had a better anti-spam solution, and had support throughout the process.

Likelihood to Recommend

AppRiver is well suited for small to mid-sized companies. In these scenarios, it doesn't make sense to have an on-premise server. Utilizing AppRiver to migrate to the cloud, add spam filtering, manage licensing, and having tech support above and beyond going to Microsoft is perfectly suited in these scenarios and works extremely well.

Of course, large enterprises will still want an infrastructure of their own on-premise Exchange servers.
