Overall Satisfaction with Aruba ClearPass
ClearPass is used for endpoint management of devices. We're using it to authenticate business owned computers, function as a portal for guest devices and certificate management. We are able to see which device are connecting to the network in real time and troubleshoot devices that aren't able to connect. We are also able to push devices into different wireless roles depending on who is connecting.
Pros
- Reliable
- Informative dashboards
- Priced well
- Integrates into non-aruba platforms
- Easy to install patches
- Little downtime
Cons
- The user interface is outdated
- Support is not as responsive as it used to be
- I'd like to be able to build dashboards
- Guest management
- Functions as a NAC
- Reporting
- Support for a large number of users/scaling
- Reliability
- Portal page is easy for users to understand
Much easier to use, FortiNAC which used to be owned by Bradford was difficult to use. Unintuitive menus made it difficult to use and support was almost nonexistent. It may be different now, but we haven't looked back since using Clearpass. Licensing and support costs aren't bad compared to other solutions. Clearpass licensing is also perpetual which very important to me.

Using Aruba ClearPass
8000 - All wireless endpoints authenticate through Clear pass whether business owned device or using the captive guest portal. In some situations, depending on who the user is it will redirect them to different vlans.
2 - Myself and one of my techs manage clearpass, but it's not too often we have to log into it. After it's set up, we use it mostly for troubleshooting and/or live monitoring of devices connecting to the network. We pay annually for support, but haven't needed it much for our business use case.
- Security
- Live monitoring
- Planning
- Investigations when needed
- We plan on rolling it out for wired devices
- We're able to get creative with our guest captive portal page
- I've used it to help people who've lost their phone in the building
- At this time, we don't have any additional plans for Clear pass
