Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian JIRA

Atlassian JIRA was used to develop software in C++ on an Agile team using Scrum (iterative and incremental) development for a human critical medical device. During our sprint review and planning meeting we would, as a team, evaluate performance tracked with Atlassian JIRA and project new tasks based on the team's perspective of timing and difficulty level in the software. Members of the team would then commit to tasks based on their area of interest, expertise, or remaining time allotment projected in the next two week sprint. Atlassian JIRA provided visibility to the team through a simple interface which showed who was responsible for what, and its value was felt in its clarity for depicting a particular tasks overall scope which mitigated against duplication of results thus saving expensive development time for our customer.
  • Clarity in tracking firmware development related tasks
  • Visibility to the team's engineers, managers, and customers
  • Simplicity in creating, modifying, and removing tasks
  • Synchronization with other software suites such as Microsoft Outlooks calendar
  • Better, consistent communication among team, management, and customer
This application was seen to practically track and stimulate progress on an Agile software development team creating a human critical medical product which demanded a level of traceability made possible by Atlassian JIRA and other safe developmental practices.
Is there more than one software developer working on your project? If so, Atlassian JIRA can streamline the development process in conjunction with smart developmental techniques.
