Overall Satisfaction with Automox

We use Automox to patch all of our servers and Linux-based devices along with Microsoft Teams room Systems. This addressed the gap that we had when I first started where we had lost our WSUS server and SCCM server and we wanted something easier to use that was agent-based and could patch 3rd part software.
  • Allows you to create static and dynamic groups that allow you to target machines
  • They do a good job of reviewing input from the user base and making changes to the product.
  • Made user interface easy to use. So easy that you can pick it up in 15 minutes.
  • It would be nice to have a software inventory of what is installed on the machine
  • ad-hoc scheduled reboots without using worklets
  • previous patches to have the date installed
  • The pane on the asset shows a log of what has been done to it and who did it. Rather than looking through activity reports.
  • Scheduled Updates and Reboots
  • 3rd party software patching
  • agent based installation
  • Security team is happy that all endpoints are no more than 30 days behind on updates
  • integrates into Security tools and ServiceNow nicely
Price and ease of use of the product Automox hands down beat them. But those products also had a monitoring component to consider. But when looking at the monitoring component it wasn't intuitive and hard to implement.

Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Microsoft Intune + SCCM)
Works well with scenarios where you just need to patch endpoints and get everything up to date. It struggles with helping remediating vulnerabilities where you need to run a command line or PowerShell as an administrator to change something or detect settings in higher UAC.
