Overall Satisfaction with Automox

We use Automox for first and third-party patching for MacOS, Linux, and Windows (Clients and Servers). Additionally, we use Automox to deploy other products as needed (endpoint agents, required software, etc). Our goal was to move away from the manual intervention for patching and fully automate the process where possible; to that end, we looked for a product that did not interfere with user productivity. So far we are satisfied with the solution.
  • Automatic patching of Third-Party Applications and Browsers where 80% of real risk comes from in the enterprise without disrupting users.
  • Installation is easy across platforms (bar Apple Silicon but that is on Apple)
  • Agent is lightweight and consumes reasonable CPU/memory on devices.
  • SAML and access control need work. Currently unable to divide access control within a zone.
  • WPAD/Proxy support; we have found several bugs that need fixing
  • Needs better patch orchestration
  • Patch Automation
  • Multi-OS patching
  • Patch Visibility
  • Our risk score dropped 60% just from switching Automox on with some basic policies
  • We have eliminated 50% of our service desk requests to bring devices up to date
  • We are automatically patching thousands of devices that were previously untouched
Our primary goal was to find a solution that does patching and does it well. Compared to the other products we evaluated, Automox was the only one to offer true cross-platform patching support. Likewise, the Automox endpoint agent has a much lighter footprint on devices than any of the other products we tested.

Do you think Automox delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Automox's feature set?

Yes

Did Automox live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Automox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Automox again?

Yes

First and foremost, Automox is a pure patch management product. If you have needs beyond patch management (think RMM software), then Automox may not suit all your needs. That being said, it does patch management really well. If you are looking for complete manual control over patching, Automox may not be the best use case for you. The direction of the product is seeming that you can install the tool, add policies, and let Automox do the work.
