Overall Satisfaction with Barracuda Backup
Barracuda Backup is our standard backup solution for any companies that we support. It addresses the business problem of finding a cost effective backup solution that is both local and offsite.
Pros
- Cost Effective. It is hard to find a more complete backup product at this price point.
- Simple Management. The website used to manage the boxes is easy to use and pretty intuitive.
- Support. Support is, for the most part, a good experience. There are some tier 1 techs who don't know what they are doing, but most of the support staff is very good.
Cons
- Support. Some of the tier 1 techs are not very good, especially if the problem is a complicated one. You also always have to go into a call queue, so you don't have any control over what support tech you get.
- Restore issues. Currently and in the past, there have been issues with being able to restore large (5+GB) files from the cloud.
- No longer relying on tape backups is great. It takes away the need for an employee switching tapes and then moving them to a secure location. It also means we no longer need to go looking for a tape for a specific backup as they are all stored in the Barracuda interface.
- The management is simpler than that of other software. This means day to day tasks take less time, freeing me up to do other things with my time.
- BackupExec and Carbonite
All the other cheap offsite backups were offsite only. Barracuda having both onsite and offsite data was a huge plus for us as it cuts down on the restore times as well as being a legitimate disaster recovery tool.
