Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine

We are using it to post journals into our ERP. It helps us during closing time to reduce the time of the closing itself. We also use this to reconcile accounts, a great many of them. Lastly, on this list, we use it to store information about certain tasks we perform - and yes, that is the task management module. In summary, this is a cool tool which helps you close efficiently and fast. Also, the approval hierarchy is awesome and can be formed based on your needs. What is more, almost everything can be formed based on your needs. It is a very scalable one with handy perks to make your admin life easy as well. Last, but not least, the community is very great, you can find the information you are looking for there - in case you are stuck or just wondering about extra ways of using BlackLine.

  • I think in one number I can show this off: 11K+ account recons to be done automatically in a month compared to 2383 manuals. Not bad, eh?

E.g. when you would like to design your own account recon ways - it can help with a great many perks. You can import accounts in various ways as well. There you have them rules to auto-certify, also the threshold is there for the same reason. Bulk review. Dual-level (and even more ;)) approval. Quickly to perform, easy to understand and oversee. Fast to review and, oh, there are the notes you can leave for one an other!

Idea implementation though is a bit of a hard nut to crack here - one needs to upload the idea on a very place called Product Ideas, where others can upvote those. The necessary minimum? I do not know. But some says, there were ideas implemented for free for all BL users... SO, I do believe them.

Using BlackLine

100 - Order to Cash. Credit Control. Purchase to Pay and AR [although they are using only Task Management]. Record to Report on various levels, from VAT to Controlling, including R&D controllers as well. Senior Management and Middle Management. And, of course, line managers to check the preparers and other functions to store documents and communicate on some.
1 - One has to be an information seeker, ready to tackle any obstacles immediately with creative thinking. Also, able to understand accounting from an accountant's eyesight. Plus, it is not bad, if you have ever worked with an IT company before or closely to IT people and you know how to talk with them and capable of working together with 'em.

  • Consolidation System? Long shot. But maybe.
Because this is a great tool with many possibilities and cool perks. Plus, as an admin - because I am both user and admin - I can say that this is easy to handle, you don't even have to be able to write a single piece of code to do so.
