Overall Satisfaction with BMC AMI Ops

We use many of the BMC AMI Ops such as JAVA IMS MVS etc. We use it for alerting. threshold monitoring such as CPU utilization DASD I/O MVS Storage IMS region Occupancy IMS region alerting, JAVA cabbage collection automation Use the Automation to trigger alerts and notification.

Pros

  • Monitor the health of the system. Alert when the threshold is met such as CPU DASD I/O MVS Storage
  • Does a very good job with IMS Reporting and threshold notification. region Looping, high CPU
  • Java region Gabbage collection reporting work great with IBM Health center.

Cons

  • Need to package more can reporting tools. Such as running against trace files etc
  • It has been a very proactive product ever since we have had it. With threshold setting, monitoring and alerting made these product very powerfull
BMC AMI Ops is great. I guess sometimes we need some hand holding to get through the day such as education etc
BMC AMI Ops has been a great tool for all of the above.
BMC AMI Ops was chosen because of its reporting and alerting capabilities

Based on my experience with BMC AMI Ops, it's well suited for what we need. The JAVA product should be enhance to produce more enhance reporting like the IMS type of reporting.
