Overall Satisfaction with Brightmine
I use Brightmine to keep me up to date on payroll and absence related legislative updates. I really like the feature that you can subscribe to things that interest you so that you're not constantly having to weed through information, and yet, you still have the ability to access that information whenever you need to, as opposed to paying a separate fee for various areas of interest.
Pros
- timely information when legislation is updated
- thoughtful organization of focus areas
- quickly scannable newsletters with links directly to topics
Cons
- it might be nice to get a once monthly intro to things I may not be using optimally. it is difficult to always stay "up to date" on new features.
- I know that I can trust the resources in Brightmine. Simply "Googling" isn't always effective because many sources are populated and may have conflicting information. I know that all the HR professionals are getting the SAME information if they are utilizing the same source.
HR & Compliance Center
I need to stay up to date on what legislation changes have occurred so that I may update the system configuration to match (for example vacation and sick policies, etc.).
I think SHRM has great resources and more resources for "nuanced" situations or scenarios and can get more into the nitty gritty issues, whereas I use Brightmine for just the facts on "what" is being updated and not "how" to make it work for our organization. SHRM can be cumbersome when just trying to get the facts.
