Overall Satisfaction with CCH® SureTax®

We use SureTax to calculate all taxes that apply to our telecom customers. We used to do it ourselves, but needed a service that would keep abreast if all tax changes in all jurisdictions,
  • Calculate taxes
  • Provide Compliance reports for all jurisdictions
  • It was difficult in the early stages to get timely authoritative responses from the product specialist assigned to us.
  • Communication of rules and rationales was not top-notch
  • It can take much longer than we prefer for trouble tickets to get resolved.
  • Saved us from liability from miscalculating taxes or not applying taxes that were were unaware of - when we did the taxes ourselves.
  • Saved a huge amount of time for our finance department to file compliance reports
  • However, these advantages accrue from any similar tax provider - not specific to SureTax
We decided on SureTax because of some prior relationships our CEO had. The technical implementation team had a much better impression of the advice and explanations and guidance we received from Avalara

Once everything is properly set up, questions answered, issues resolved, SureTax does its core job of calculating taxes for us quite well. It was not easy to resolve questions about the proper mapping of our products to their tax categories, however. And sometimes we got the impression that there was a tendency to sweep certain questions or potential difficulties under the rug.

3 - Technical skills are far more important in this case, but clear communication is essential (which our people are good at)

It has taken much longer than we would like to get certain issues - and problems - resolved. And the initial product support as we designed the implementation left much to be desired
