Overall Satisfaction with Ceridian Dayforce

All employees in our organization use Ceridian Dayforce HCM. Employees use Ceridian Dayforce HCM as a time clock, to access timesheets, and to track payroll. Employees can access the software via their desktops or tablet to complete whatever task they need to. Most hourly employees have access to clock in via this software can also view their payroll stubs. Our HRM Department also uses it to upload forms for us to access when we need to make important changes to our personal data. The software also provides a wizard for healthcare enrollment which every employee can utilize when they have a life changing event or during open enrollment. The system also allows employees to view their current healthcare benefits and personal information such as the personal address on file for each employee. We were previously unable to track actual hours worked because we did not have a system to track an employee's working hours. We were also able to combine 3 different systems into one system by implementing this software.
  • Using Ceridian Dayforce HCM for time clock purposes works very well for our organization. For users who do not have access to a desktop or laptop computer, we've been able to give the access by placing iPads strategically around our organization where employees can easily access them. The software allows users to log in using a username and password or by using their badge number and a personal ID number. This allows the user to pick whatever method is most convenient for them. Hourly employees can view their timesheets and request that their manager/supervisor make edits if a correction is needed. Managers and Supervisors can edit and approve timesheets for the employees they manage before submitting them to our Payroll Department for processing.
  • The healthcare enrollment wizard that we used in Ceridian Dayforce HCM was also very straightforward and easy to use. Every employee received a notification when they logged into the system telling them that they were eligible for annual enrollment and were provided with a link to click that took them straight to the enrollment wizard. All of the healthcare plans, as well as detailed information about each plan, was available within the system wizard so we didn't have to log out or switch programs in order to get information that we needed. If a mistake was made or if a selection needed clarification, our HR Department could send us a notification within Dayforce telling us to review our selections. We also received confirmations immediately after enrollment instead of having to wait days for HR to tell us that they received our benefits enrollment packages
  • Being able to view our timesheets in real-time is a benefit that I truly appreciate. There were times in the past where I couldn't remember if I clocked out for the day or lunch and I could immediately log into Dayforce, view my timesheet, and enter a note under the day the mistake was made. My boss would get an automatic notification that I've submitted an error for my timesheet and he can approve or deny the request and make the corrections as necessary. It also helps me track my hours worked so I won't go over if there is a ban on overtime or I can work more hours if it looks like I won't get 40 hours for the week.
  • I honestly don't see any areas where Ceridian Dayforce HCM needs any improvement. The system works, it's easy to use, and doesn't provide any issues with our network or other programs. It took about 2 months to get all of our data imported before we could go love. The time period was only long because our HRM Department chose to manually input the data into the system instead of importing it. If we imported the data it would of been only a few weeks for implementation before we could go live.
  • I will warn users in the Payroll Department that we had issues with getting the correct figures to display on our W-2's. We had to issue corrected w-2 forms twice, but this was not due to the system making a mistake. The error was caused by users of the software in our Payroll Department. The software did exactly what it was supposed to do, but the user in charge of creating the W-2's was not following directions and kept inputting the wrong information.
  • Ceridian Dayforce HCM requires the use of Silverlight when using Internet Explorer. Whenever we choose to upgrade Dayforce and push out the updated version to our users, we have to update IE and Silverlight as well. Sometimes you will get a false message stating that Silverlight needs an update when it's really IE and vice versa. We solved the problem by updating both IE and Silverlight for all users. We hope that we won't have to do this for every upgrade we decide to push out to our users.
  • Since we've implemented Ceridian Dayforce HCM we've had a positive ROI. Especially in regards to utilizing the time clock features because we are no longer losing money by paying employees for hours they didn't work. The time clocks allow us to pay employees for real working hours versus hours manually recorded by each employee which allowed room for errors and mistakes.
  • Having the ability to track how many hours an employee spent completing a certain job also gives us a better outlook on how we should prioritize and assign tasks to our employees. We can see what jobs take more hours to complete and assign more individuals to work in that area so tasks are completed faster. It also helps us track how long completing a task should take so we can schedule future tasks in a more accurate manner. This allows the scheduling of projects to flow smoother and guarantees that we will complete projects on time.
  • Electing to automate our annual healthcare enrollment also produced positive results for our organization and made things less complicated for our HR Department. The system did not crash although there were hundreds of users accessing it at the same time. Employees complimented how easy the wizard was to use and were also surprised at how fast they received their benefit confirmations after submitting their elections. The HR Department received less calls with questions about healthcare plans because all the info we needed was readily available within the wizard. The IT helpdesk also received less calls because Dayforce was able to handle the increased load. Also, since enrollment confirmations were delivered so quickly, there were no worries that an individual's elections didn't go through.
We no longer have to manually enter data into our payroll system. Dayforce has automated this process and also takes care of the federal and state withholdings for us. This ensures that calculations are accurate and the process itself takes less time then when it was manually completed. The Payroll Department can also generate reports or perform configurable audits to ensure the integrity of the data. Since we were able to automate our healthcare eligibility, we no longer have mistakes of people changing benefits or dropping coverage during a closed enrollment period. As for overtime, before an employee can work overtime, they have to submit a request to their boss for approval before the hours are worked.
Since implementing this software our scheduling has improved dramatically. We know how long it takes to complete tasks and can plan accordingly. Our HR Department can scan through the data of past applicants that are saved in the database by searching for keywords when looking for new hires. This reduces the amount of time it would take to physically search for an applicant's file and review it. It also simplifies the process of searching for an applicant because Dayforce will post what jobs positions and criteria you're looking for across several media outlets for you. Now an HR Administrator doesn't have to waste time creating posts for each site they want to advertise the position on.

It makes everything more convenient for users of the software regardless of their role or level of access. For instance, general employees can access the app from basically any location so they don't have to be on campus or using company hardware to get access to information pertaining to every aspect of their job. Having all the information in one place cuts the hassle of remembering multiple sites and log-ins, which also cuts down on calls to the helpdesk because a user forgot their credentials or the address for a website. Sometimes, 3rd party modules can have compatibility issues which cause complications when importing or trying to share data across multiple applications.
Ceridian Dayforce HCM is well suited for timekeeping and payroll management. It automatically tracks each punch-in and you can designate whether you're clocking out for a meal, to switch jobs, or to end your day. Sometimes our maintenance workers have to fill-in and do the job of another individual such as a plumber assisting an electrician in digging a hole that the electrician needs to complete an assignment. Through Dayforce the plumber's supervisor can track how many hours the plumber spent doing his own job or assisting others with work that needed completion. All hours are automatically tracked and need a supervisor's approval before it gets submitted to payroll so there are less mistakes made in regards to hours worked and how much compensation an employee should get.

Using Ceridian Dayforce

700 - We use Ceridian Dayforce HCM time clocks, benefits, and to give employees access to resources that apply to their current position. The time clocks are used for hourly employees to clock in and out, tracks job changes, and also gives employees access to view their timesheet data. Managers are also able to approve or disapprove time off requests. They can also approve, disapprove, or change the time stamps submitted by employees that report to them. The benefits part of Dayforce gives employees access to their benefit enrollment forms and wizards so they can participate in annual enrollment whether they are on-site or off-site. Employees can also view their current benefit elections, 403b accounts, or other tax deferred accounts. Employees can also look up their own employment information such as job time, salary, dependents, beneficiaries, and prior service awards.
12 - There are 12 individuals altogether that help provide in-house support for Dayforce. Nine of those individuals are from the IT Dept. and we provide assistance with navigating the website or installing plug-ins that are needs to keep the website running. When new versions of Dayforce are pushed out, the IT Dept. ensures that each time clock and computer using the software received the update. The other 3 individuals are from the HR Dept. They help with resetting passwords needed to log into Dayforce as well as answer benefit related questions that have nothing to do with how the actual site itself is performing.
  • Annual benefit enrollment is the most important use of this software for our organization. We have the wizard set up and employees are given a timeframe to finish the wizard and choose their benefit options before the wizard and benefit enrollment are closed. Employees are also able to look at their current benefit elections if they forget who our vision carrier, dental carrier, or health provide is. They can also view what healthplans they chose and the rates for each plan.
  • The 2nd most important use of this software for our organization is the use of the time clock feature. All of our hourly employee timestamps are recorded and can be managed by the Dayforce software. Employees also have the option of clocking in our out from their computer or a designated time clock close to their area of work. If an employee's job postion requires them to do a mail run in the morning, but housekeeping duties in the afternoon, this change is also tracked by Dayforce. Manager's can approve, disapprove, or change their subordinates timestamps when necessary.
  • The 3rd most important use of this software is to provide employees with the ability to view personal information that relates to their job duties. We can list an employee's job title, their salary, emergency contact info, dependents, and beneficiaries. This ensures that the employee and employer are on the same page about everything in regards to a certain position.
  • I used the example previously of how we have some employees who start off in the morning doing one job, but switch to another job during the afternoon. We needed a way to track these changes and was very surprised that Dayforce offered the ability to track these types of changes. It helps us break down how many hours an employee spent doing each job they were assigned to for the day. It also helps to ensure that we aren't short on manpower in any department because we can see what departments and job duties accumulate the most hours worked.
  • Another useful tool that Dayforce offers is having the ability to see and request vacation, sick time, or other types of leave of absences. I can log into my Dayforce account and see exactly how many vacation and sick hours I have available as well company holidays and floating holidays. When I put in a request for time off, it will immediately deduct the time from my balance so I can see exactly how much time I'll have left over. Managers have the ability to approve or disapprove these requests. When requests of this nature are entered into Dayforce, the software automatically sends an email notifying the employee and manager of the request.
  • I also like how we were able to include a tab where employees could access their paycheck stubs and W-2 forms. Employees can pull up any paystub and Dayforce offers two different statement views that they can choose to print if needed. Also, if an employee prefers paper statements instead of the online version available through Dayforce, they have the option to opt out and receive paper statements.
  • We can list our open job positions on Dayforce so employees are aware when positions in other departments are available that they might be interested in. By listing these job on Dayforce, we're able to take down our Extranet site and integrate everything into one location that is easier for employees to access.
  • We can also upload forms to the website that employees might need access to when life events happen. We haven't started uploading any forms outside of forms related to benefits, but we want all of our forms in one place organized by the department that processes the form. For example, when a new employee starts working at Missouri Botanical Garden, the IT Dept. requires their supervisor to send over a form notifying us of what type of computer they will need, as well as what software they might use. This helps us set up a workstation that is personalized to an individual's job and ensures they have all the tools necessary to complete their job duties.
  • Dayforce also provides a tab for Apps. The Apps tab will allow us to link to other sites that are associated with our organization. For instance, we want to put a link to DIG, our intranet site, on Dayforce so user's will have easier access to it. We also want to put links to each site that Missouri Botanical Garden manages such as Shaw Nature Reserve and the Butterfly House. Dayforce is so useful and is configurable to fit any unique situation an organization might have. The best part of investing in Dayforce is that it's customizable so we can add things we think we need and if we don't like them we can also remove them at any time.
Dayforce was our solution to managing and combing several websites and intranets into one place. By doing so, it makes it easier for employees to see and manage all of their personal info that relates to their job. We were able to combine benefits management, time keeping, intranet forms, employee data, pay stubs, time off requests, and more into one location. The software is customizable so we can add or remove items as we see fit which is the greatest benefit of investing in this software solution.

Evaluating Ceridian Dayforce HCM and Competitors

Yes - We use to process timecards manually and now Dayforce has automated this process for us. When we needed do our yearly benefit enrollment, it would take our HRM staff months to process all the paperwork. Now, Dayforce has simplified the task and made it easier to track what benefits each employee has chosen for enrollment. Our Finance Department used to manually print and handout paycheck stubs. We can now access these paycheck stubs online through Dayforce which has cut our paper usage dramatically and allows employees to have access to valuable information whenever they need it.

We're a non-profit organization so price is always our bottom line. Whenever we search for new software or services we have to consider what our budget is for implanting these new systems. In addition to budget, we have to also ensure that the products we purchase will add value to our organization and make everyday processes easier to handle.
We evaluated 3 different companies, therefore, I would not change anything in the evaluation process.

Yes - Dayforce is essential to our every day business needs, therefore, we have to make sure that we have support immediately whenever it is necessary. Paying for premium support gives us the assurance that if an issue arises then it will be solved within a timely matter. Premium support also gives us the satisfaction of knowing that if a problem occurs then it will be handled as a top priority.
When we first implemented Dayforce and had employees utilizing the app on iPads, whenever software updates were sent out, the iPads would lose its registration and we'd have to reset every single one of them. Sometimes updates were sent out two to three times a week so this became a problem because we had to update each iPad every single time. We notified Dayforce of the issue and they worked with us to implement a strategy and plan to ensure that it didn't happen again.

Using Ceridian Dayforce HCM

I give Dayforce a 10 because it was easy to integrate into our network since it was cloud-based. It is also user friendly and easy to maneuver around the web site. We were able to integrate three separate applications into just one site which made it easier for employees to access the tools they need.
