Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Chartio to create dashboards that show live-updating information on our products - these are circulated to key stakeholders via email, displayed on live screens around the office, and used directly by power users within the development and product management teams.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Global filters on dashboards to allow users to dig down into information
Does not require you to upload your data - instead connects to database on our servers
"Drag and Drop" style query building for easy queries, but also direct SQL for more complex questions

Cons

Optimisation of timing of SQL queries (e.g. staggering things that run "every day" to not all run at midnight)
Appearance - ability to customise axes, fonts, sizes, colours etc

Alternatives Considered

N/A - I haven't used any other alternatives in sufficient depth to compare

Likelihood to Renew

One major factor that might lead to us moving to a competitor is the requirement for every user to have (and pay for) an account. The ability to have many cheaper "view only" accounts, or to export interactive dashboards (rather than just flat PDFs) would be very beneficial to us.
