Overall Satisfaction with Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISR 4000)

We use this router as our branch's main router.
  • It's easy to deploy.
  • There are plenty of modules available.
  • Small form - fits in 1RU
  • The throughput is indeed fixed at 100 Mbps, unless you purchase additional very expensive licenses.
  • The IOS upgrade guides are not very user-friendly.
  • Some of the documentation is confusing and does not represent the real performance of the device.
PA-220 PA-3020 and up.

These products can do most routing tasks that a Cisco router can do for a simple network. They also allow you to centralize your firewall, proxy and routing into a single appliance.
Ok for a small to medium size branch location. It's not ok if you expect it to aggregate more than 2Gbps at the time. You should get a larger router for that instead.

So far they have always been able to help us when we need it the most. Sales, hmm not so much.

No - To ensure we have a tech available when we need it, but not 24x7 onsite
Yes - No, no one really replied to it, I did it online
I was having an issue with the throughput of the router, no matter what we did it would not go beyond 100Mbps. After opening a TAC case, they advised on how to turn on trial licenses and helped me troubleshoot why I it was not properly loading. Even though the real cause was that the process itself is a bit buggy, the agent was extremely patient and available when we needed him.
