Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

  • Catalyst 2960 X/XR Series
  • Catalyst 3560-CX Series
  • Catalyst 6800 Series
  • Catalyst 9300 Series
  • Catalyst 9400 Series
  • Catalyst 9500 Series
The Cisco Catalyst Switches ARE our network. Without them, we wouldn't have a network. They are not merely a part of it, they are the network. We use Catalyst 2960 Switches in our shops to connect our devices, manage them, and provide services. We use Catalyst 9300 and 9400 at our offices to connect all our users. They are the backbone and lifeblood of our network. The switches interconnect users to enable them to work.
  • Connect devices
  • are reasonably priced (in some use cases refurbished 2960 switches are very affordable)
  • allow individual configuration
  • bootup time. Some end users don't understand why pricey hardware takes so long to boot
  • interconnectivity with hardware from other vendors
  • Used/refurbished 2960 switches are amazing from a ROI standpoint
The switches are easily configurable with a template to solve problems on a larger scale. With ansible or DNA Center there are options to improve management on an even larger scale. These switches offer a lot of options and monitoring capabilities (SNMP) to suit a whole lot of business needs.

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst Switches again?

They are good when you need robust and individually configurable devices. They are robust: I had 2960 that were in a flooded shop. After it was flooded and muddy it still booted and worked. They come in a lot of variations (with and without PoE, different link speeds, copper/fiber). They are (especially when bought new) pricey. You need to be aware that the cost
