Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Spaces

We use Cisco DNA Spaces for wifi analytics. Dwell time, path analysis, people counting, etc. We were an existing CMX user/customer and migrated to Spaces about 3 years ago. We also migrated out wifi portal page to Cisco DNA Spaces. This has also lessoned our administration for our server team.
  • Connect & Locate guests
  • Present Portal Page to guests
  • Gives us a rough idea of how many guests are in the Museum.
  • Portal Page changes cannot be made by the customer. You need to work with the Spaces team to modify the page.
  • APIs for extracting information is cumbersome.
  • General slowness on the platform.
  • Cisco DNA Spaces requires licenses. CMX did not.
  • The product hasn't provided a ROI as we've had to buy licenses. Where we didn't with CMX.
  • There's a learning curve if your migrating form CMX to Spaces.
Since we were an existing analytics customer with CMX. The benefit is a wash for us. We feel once the product matures and get more attention from Cisco it will be a useful tool.
We are not relying on Cisco DNA Spaces for people counting or social distancing. We are doing that through time ticketing, Shopper Trek and camera visibility. Whether or not we had Spaces wouldn't have made a difference with our re-opening or back to work for the work staff.
At this point we have integrated any applications with Spaces. As the product matures and stabilizes we intend to.
We are able to use Cisco DNA Spaces to get an idea of how our visitors navigate through the Museum. We are able to take a second look at gallery spaces that are not frequented as much as others. We are taking this data to the appropriate departments so they can have the data for future gallery exhibitions.
We are not using Cisco DNA Spaces for assist management at this time. But plan to do so in the future.
Cisco DNA Spaces is the next iteration for CMX. CMX is be retired and the move to Spaces was just a next step for us. All the features in CMX are present in Spaces. As well as additional features and capabilities.

Do you think Cisco Spaces delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Cisco Spaces's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Spaces live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Spaces go as expected?

No

Would you buy Cisco Spaces again?

Yes

Cisco DNA Spaces is well suited as a replacement for CMX. It will provide information on guest dwell time, path analysis, connect and locate. It will also provide a guest portal page if you don't have one or can migrate an existing one.

Cisco Hybrid Work

  • Webex Meetings
  • Webex Calling
  • Cisco Webex Room Series
  • Working from anywhere (e.g., coffee shop, airport)
  • Working from an office or other company space
  • Working from home
We are presently on a 3 days in the office, 2 days remote. we use a variety of methods for collaboration. Mainly Cisco Webex. Being remote during the pandemic proved that large parts of the Museum can we remote or out of the office and still be productive. This has changed leaderships view on remote work.
While large parts of the Museum can do their jobs remotely. Other parts (Visitor Engagement, Security, Ticketing, projectionists, tour guides etc ) must be in the Museum to do their jobs. This has lead to a disparity with our work force. Leadership is working on a plan to appease both. This plan is still in the works.
We wouldn't have been able to install a remote work force if not for products Cisco and others provided. Collaboration is key to any successful organization. Especially an art institution and learning center.
There have been many positives aspects of working remote. Costs and time savings. But we also suffer from collaboration challenges, Webex meeting burnout and a general feeling of FOMO (fear of missing out). Many have complained about this. The lack of "FaceTime".
We tried Zoom, Google Meet but Cisco had better overall solutions that came baked in one solution. We dabbled with different technologies but being a Cisco centric shop, Cisco products fit in seamlessly.
