Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Intersight

We use several Intersight appliances to manage our UCS products (FIs, B-Series, X-series and C-Series on IMM or standalone) on several environments. It helps us to configure all our products on a centralized appliance and permits us to analyze logs through the same tool. We also link Intersight to our managing tools to have all alarms monitored.

Pros

  • Manage configurations through Profiles
  • Analyze logs
  • Automate infrastructure deployment

Cons

  • Analyze logs is not user friendly
  • Add some warnings when applying some critical settings
  • Viewing topology on servers or FI can have some view bugs
  • Positive impact : profile templates help a lot to simplify deployment and avoid some human errors
  • Negative impacts : If a bad setting is set, it can impact all the infrastructure
Easy to deploy all of the components into one same infrastructure
We're well supported for the products but it would be useful to have an easy way to get documentation (how-to, tutorials, labs) about specific models.
We use it everyday for the management.
We already use it for automation of server deployment in our VMware environments. We plan to deploy automation on others OS and use API for this. Else, we also use it for several monitoring tasks.

When you have a big environment with several differents materials to deploy it's appropriate to use a central tool like Intersight to administrate the deployment.
It's also more simple to use IMM to propagate specific configurations to specific servers (used for specific clusters). Network can be easily manage for endpoints through the Intersight and deployment of profiles instead of being totally dependant of network team.
