Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MR

We have implemented 36 Meraki MR44 Access Points at our 2 sites in France. At our head office, the aim was to replace aging Cisco Access Points, and at our branch office to set up several Wi-Fi networks. Today, we have to be careful with our energy consumption, which is why we chose this model of Meraki Wi-Fi Access Points, because within the Web console, we can modify these energy parameters.
  • setup
  • managing
  • electrical consumption
  • have only the best channel (frequency)
  • manage more SSIDs
  • more options about electricity consumption
  • very quick deployment
  • easy to manage
  • manage electricity consumption
To install Meraki Wi-Fi hotspots, simply order them. As soon as you receive them, you need to activate your licenses on the Meraki portal. Your Wi-Fi hotspots will then appear, and you can configure them. You then create your SSIDs, choose the best frequency, name your Wi-Fi hotspots, and set the broadcast times for these networks. Finally, you connect them to your network, and the magic begins.
The benefits of deploying Meraki switches are the same as with Wi-Fi hotspots. Upstream preparation work is simplified. All you need to do is activate your licenses on the Meraki portal, then you can start setting up the switch, naming it, configuring its ports, creating Vlans, setting up a stack...
I gave it a score of 8, because today if I need to bring a Wi-Fi signal where there's no network, it could be done easily. What's more, if I had to secure this Wi-Fi network with time slots, I could do it. Or even, if I wanted to secure the Wi-Fi, I could set up filtering using 802.1x or a list of MAC addresses.
We chose this Meraki firewall for the same reasons as our other equipment, for its ease of implementation, but also to have all our Meraki products visible on the same console. Its use is identical to that of switches or Wi-Fi kiosks; all you have to do is set it up via the Meraki web console.

For our part, we use Meraki switches and Access Points. The great thing is that you can set up all the Wi-Fi Access Pointsin advance, using the Meraki web portal. Then all you have to do is ship them to the site, where one of your colleagues simply connects them.
