Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MS Switches

Currently, our entire organization is built upon Cisco Meraki Suite. We utilize varying Cisco Meraki Switches in our infrastructure. The type of switch depends completely on the needs of the business unit where the implementation will occur. For instance, we have spoke switches, small retail switches, large hub switches and enterprise-grade corporate facility switches.
  • Ease of deployment
  • Security rules
  • Failover-mode
  • Topology
  • The ability to utilize SSH for the switches.
  • Network alerting
  • Lack of IP address management
  • Less system administration
  • Increased performance
  • Decreased system maintenance
Cisco Meraki has made its entire existence on the ease of deployment, management and upgradeability. On those features alone most companies love Cisco Meraki platform as they can increase their network performance and decrease their network expenditure. However, it does take some administration changes as most management functions are now done over the web GUI vs Command line.
The support team at Meraki unbelievable once you get them on the phone or through email. For the past 15 months though it seems like there is a lot of change and minimal L3 support for escalated troubleshooting. A lot of assistance is needed from your neighborhood solutions/technical engineer.

Would you buy Cisco Meraki MS again?

For any business with small hub sites, Cisco Meraki is perfect as you can manage that infrastructure remotely from your headquarter campus. However, the larger enterprise will struggle within the Meraki space as it is missing critical features—IPAM, network monitoring, built-in 802.1x, reporting. There have been great strides so far within the space and I think there are more to come!
