Firepower 1120

Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Secure Firewall

We use these firewalls to protect the applications hosted in our data center. We use layer 2 and we would like to upgrade these firewalls to layer 3 to address new regulations: NIS2.
We use a Cisco Secure manager to deploy our policy on Cisco Secure Firewall.

Pros

  • Handle big traffic
  • Sync the session with a failover which is transparent
  • Troubleshoot with command line

Cons

  • Upgrades could be easier (chassis, threat defense, asa)
  • API
  • Some incident but failover works fine
  • Upgrade are somehow complicated
We are using only layer 3/4 for our policy
Firstly you have someone in support who is not very useful, you have to escalate the incident each time.
We use Firepower for the vpn part with asa, the product works fine.
We had a lot of bugs with CheckPoint, Cisco Secure Firewalls are much more reliable over time.

Do you think Cisco Secure Firewall delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Secure Firewall's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Secure Firewall live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Cisco Secure Firewall go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Cisco Secure Firewall again?

No

The Cisco Secure Firewall is effective at protecting the east/west streams, but I think it is less appropriate on the north and south streams.
