Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Secure Firewall
We use Cisco Secure Firewall pair as a primary edge device and we use remote connectivity with Secure Connect. We have controlled access, web filtering, IDS prevention, we've got third party intrusion defection, a little mix of everything.
Pros
- It's a nice clean interface. I've demoed a few others to kind of have familiarity and with the newer management center it works well. It's clean, it's pretty quick. The security aspect of itself, we routinely test internal and external in various means and always does very well and all around it's a great product and performs well.
Cons
- Still some improvement in speed of deploying policies. It has improved but at times it still takes a little bit. The threat intrusion detection has a little bit of a weakness still as far as you do too many sources. It can overload it so to speak. It's improved with version seven seven, but still a little things here and there and kind of some bugs being worked out with SD-WAN solutions and Hub versus spoke, but it's improving.
- Can't think of any negatives really. It wasn't free, but it's not going to be positive. We continue to have different threats all the time and the abilities that are added on a regular basis have improved that capability of protecting from other vulnerabilities and threats. And so kind of maintaining that leading edge has helped to improve the overall product.
We try to stay with Cisco in general, but we're a Cisco driven organization and we did do comparisons and overall we were happy with what Cisco provides and they offered us some great pricing in order to upgrade and maintain that relationship as well, which definitely helps too.
I've used Ubiquiti products, SonicWall products, the various older Cisco and Meraki. Cisco is definitely more of an enterprise level and overall it has probably better overall options and integrations and functionality and we've continued to choose to use it because it works and it works well.

Cisco Secure Firewall Feature Ratings
Cisco Security
These days security is number one. We've got so many options of threat attacks that occur and between email and remote access and just anything you can think of. So it's a very drastic part of day-to-day life.

Yes
We have haven't involved in numerous products now, but it's a day-to-day piece of most of my security duties and more or less helping with controlled access of remote users and knowing where they are versus where they actually are. So if somebody tries to log in suddenly in Europe but they're in America, it's a pretty good indicator that something's not right. But the AI driven movement essentially, as far as that goes is a great tool and it's very useful and functional.
