Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Secure Firewall

We use Cisco Secure Firewall to secure the internet edge and segment DMZ subnets and PCI zones.

Pros

  • Intrusion Prevention
  • Route Based VPNs
  • SD-Wan capabilities

Cons

  • Better optics support
  • Better choice of modules when ordering
  • We were able to save on hardware by buying larger appliances and using multi instance
I like the ability to integrate with Cisco ISE (pxgrid) to pull in user or device SGTs and build policy based on those.
TAC support can be lacking, even when purchasing the Tier 2 support for firewalls with our Enterprise Licensing agreement. However, you can generally escalate and get the issue resolved quickly.
VPNs are critical for cloud tenant access and vendor support. We heavily utilize VPN for this.
