Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Umbrella

We use Cisco Umbrella to prevent our users from accessing websites that might infect the network. We are able to filter our web traffic and create policies to allow exceptions. We have been able to create policies for different departments as well as different categories. We can also block specific domains and TLD's that are deemed to have a negative effect.

Pros

  • Web Traffic Inspection
  • Policy Creation
  • Filtering

Cons

  • SSL Decryption - When this is enabled, it has a negative affect on web traffic due to being slow.
  • It's hard to provide a specific dollar amount or time saved by using Cisco Umbrella but I know that by using it, we have prevent phishing attacks that if they occurred would have cost us much valuable time and money.
  • Webex Meetings
  • Cisco AnyConnect
  • Cisco Secure Access by Duo
  • Cisco Secure Endpoint

Cisco Security

Protecting Sensitive Information and Maintaining Trust: We handle a vast amount of sensitive data, whether it's user information, financial records, or intellectual property. Robust security controls are essential for safeguarding this data, complying with regulations (like GDPR, HIPAA, etc.), and maintaining the trust of our users, partners, and stakeholders. A data breach can severely damage our reputation and lead to significant financial and legal repercussions, hindering our growth and credibility.
DNS-Layer Security First: By enforcing security at the DNS layer, Umbrella blocks malicious domains, IP addresses, and cloud applications before a connection is ever established. This is an early and effective way to stop threats like malware, ransomware, and phishing. Cisco Talos Integration: Umbrella is backed by Cisco Talos, one of the world's largest commercial threat intelligence teams. This provides unparalleled insights into emerging threats, enabling proactive blocking of malicious activity.
We had an existing relationship with Cisco so after learning about their additional security products and how it integrated with our current solutions, it made the decision easy.
Their support from day one was exceptional.
AI's ability to analyze massive datasets in real-time will lead to significantly improved anomaly detection, identifying subtle indicators of sophisticated attacks that humans might miss. Predictive analytics powered by AI will anticipate attack vectors and proactively strengthen defenses.
We don't do this currently outside of using some built in AI tools.
We use AI for guidance but we don't let it completely drive the tool.
