Overall Satisfaction with CMiC Construction Platform

We have rolled out CMiC in phases. We are currently using it across the whole organization, handling all aspects of financial, project management, business development, e-time, and field. I personally use the field, e-time, enterprise modules. It is nice to have one software platform that covers every aspect of what we do on a day-to-day basis.
  • Collaboration: Uniting all of the groups in one software platform instead of multiple different software programs.
  • Ease of Use: CMiC is user-friendly and easy to navigate.
  • Customization: It is easy to get logs or templates how you want to see or present them. Fully customizable.
  • Document Control: Not best in class, slow.
  • Reporting Financials: There is a learning curve here. It takes time to understand what information needs to be reported and what doesn't.
  • There are some little glitches like forecast freezing and needing to be reopened to continue.
  • Cost savings by consolidating software platforms.
  • Improved forecasting.
  • Improved workflow between teams.
The CMiC is more user-friendly than other construction platforms. It also is a single software platform that ties financials and operations together instead of needing to integrate different platforms. This is a definite plus. Greta collaboration between the mobile and field modules too. Documents and information are stored in the cloud, making it easy for all project team members to access it.
CMiC Support has been great. They communicate well when rolling out updates. Although getting the R13 version out has been a long time coming, I understand why it was pushed from the end of last year to the middle of this year. We have also participated in the annual CMiC Connect event. This has been great because we get to learn what other companies have been doing with CMiC.

One of the best aspects of CMiC is that it ties together the different groups in the company. Forecasting has been a really great tool for us, tying together project management and financials. Mobile and Field work great together too, making it easy for the field teams and project management teams to communicate and share information.
CMiC has many different modules. You can choose to roll out as few or as many as you would like. And, as you grow and want to do more, you can simply turn on and use more! For smaller companies, maybe it is best to just roll out field. Just using this project management portion of the software would be helpful to any company.
CMiC has been great in integrating the different groups in our company. There is a seamless collaboration between the financial side and the operations side. I'd say that has been the best part. There have been some issues though. The document management feature has been clunky and not efficient. Although I understand this is corrected in the R13 version coming out very soon.
