Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used CMiC for project management including, but not limited to, submittals, RFIs, document control, tracking safety issues in the field, and monthly billings to the owner/client. CMiC Project Management also sends us email notifiers if we were paid, if an RFI was responded to, and/or if a submittal package was approved by the design team.

Pros and Cons

Organization.
Approving of misc. invoices/sub invoices in workflow.
Notifications.

Making sense of billing to the owner.
User interface.
Ease of use for 3rd party design team/owners.

Return on Investment

Valuable reports.
Online tracking of invoices.

Alternatives Considered

Vista by Viewpoint

CMiC Project Management is a similar, but more advanced program than Vista. I prefer Vista because in my opinion it is more user-friendly and it is a desktop/cloud-based software, as opposed to CMiC which was a web browser. There is also better customer service with Vista and less glitches too.

CMiC Project Management is a web-based database for project management. My team used it for tracking RFIs, submittal package approvals, safety issues in the field, and mainly billings. My project team was the first team at our company to formally use CMiC Project Management for 100% of the owner billings, instead of partially outside the system (excel) as previously project teams used. My lead PM ran into a lot of issues and glitches with this aspect of CMiC Project Management.
