Overall Satisfaction with Control-M

Control-M is wonderful product and we are using to schedule our customer scripts, this will help user top monitor and perform any action agains their jobs

Business process outsourcing
Control-M is the best for scheduling but the backend its unstable with lot of bugs
more user friendly and more option to schdule the steams and schedules

Control-M Implementation

i have implemented the Control-M for many customers and i suggest this toll strongly
Change management was a major issue with the implementation - Yes, we change management is major issue we need to get approval from multo level not an easy task to implement or upgrade

  • agent fails to communicate
  • jobs went to unknow state

Control-M Training

Yes, Control-M is easy to learn and there are lot of youtube videos available

Configuring Control-M

cofigurations are very simple and easily can be modfied for any components
i am really happy that most of the configuration updates that we can perform from CCM or web
Yes - we have customized the interface extensively - yes, we use CCM and web server interface for configuration changes and it really saves lot of times without login the server
Yes - we have added extensive custom code - sometimes we use customised scrits to automate the regular bau like jobs,condition cleanup and force update by the user, forecast reports customisation and reports
I have automated auto cleanup josb from AJF

Control-M Support

need to improve from support end especially when the issue occured and more details on RCA

Yes - i reported the bug but this will be fixed in later versions only and not get solution for the current setup
yeah i recieve a response from bmc as expected based on seviority

Control-M Reliability

Yes, Control-M is more relaible and scalable but needs to improve more stability especially the communciation between the agents, CTM server and EM
this is the one thing i have disappointed with Control-M, the avialabilty is not stable in recent versiosn and i can see many components are hung and back to normal
performace wise Control-M is doing well, 1 laks jobs loaded in a min from tool

Upgrading Control-M

Yes - we upgrade every year to next version
  • enhancement like more actions web interface
  • fixing the bugs
  • utilise the new features
  • need high level support from BMC
  • proper roadmap or any techinical doument which describes more on upgrade
  • also publish tech doc which contains the issues occured during the updgrade
