Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

DraftSight is used to collaborate with the suppliers and the customer on a painting plant. We used DraftSight instead of AutoCAD to update the plant of the painting line with our robots. DraftSight is also used to send DXF drawings to our supplier of mechanical parts. With this format our supplier can relieve important dimensions from the drawings.
Usually we don't use all the function of DraftSight, but we use Layers, Dimensions and blocks.
  • Interface: the interface is very user-friendly.
  • Intuitive: like AutoCAD, DraftSight is very intuitive.
  • Cheap: the standard version of DraftSight is very cheap.
  • Blocks: is not possible to copy and paste inside a block.
  • Quote Menu: some of the main features of the quote (like the font's dimensions) are hard to find.
  • Fast design of the painting plant.
  • Easy to share with suppliers and customer.
DraftSight is cheaper than AutoCAD and we have selected DraftSight because is made by Dassault Systems the same company of SOLIDWORKS, our main design software. For this reason we prefer DraftSight on AutoCAD. We don't use all the functionality of DraftSight so probably we can't value the real difference between these 2 software.
DraftSight is very useful to collaborate on the plant view of big plants. Our standard software is SOLIDWORKS but it's not possible to use this software to collaborate on big plant due to the drawing's weight.
DraftSight is very useful for checking all collision with the machine in the plants and to give to the customer a good plant view of the painting plant.
We don't use DraftSight to draw the machine's design because we prefer to use 3D software.
