Overall Satisfaction with Duo / Cisco Secure Access, by Duo

Our organization is currently using Duo across our entire organization to verify employees' identity for log-in security credentials. The usage has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting work from home requirements.

Pros

  • It could do a better job remembering certain devices that log in frequently.
  • Sometime I click the remember device box but still get prompted every log-in.
  • It has improved security to log into work applications.

It is very easy to use. Once the app is installed on your mobile device for example you simply open the app and a code is displayed. You can refresh the code to get a new one or use a push notification to authenticate your login. It's very fast.
I don't have any specific details about potential data breaches. I do know that the added layer of security is much appreciated and that this extra two-factor authentication step can help prevent against hacked accounts or other unauthorized access.
Just today when I logged into my remote workstation I needed to use two-factor authentication first to log into my company's VPN and then again to my virtual workstation. In both instances, it was very easy to obtain the code needed for the VPN and then also the push notification for the work station.
I have previously used the mobile texting of security codes to authenticate credentials. Duo is much more secure because you actually have to have the mobile device unlocked and the app opened to view the code. The texting method would just require someone to have the phone. Also, the Duo allows for the push notification option.
Duo is a great tool to cross-verify a user's security credentials by ensuring that they have multiple devices with them that can be used to send the Duo codes to. It provides a quick code once the app is installed on your mobile device, for example, which is an easy way to verify your login.
