Overall Satisfaction

Edmodo is being used by all teachers in our school district. I use it for classroom management and to post content for students for different classroom subjects. I especially like how it allows students to post comments and ask questions to the teacher, provides a planner, and they are able to access different multimedia content, documents and links. The Edmodo apps are particularly helpful especially for many different projects in the class. The areas that I think are problems for Edmodo are: not being able to search for certain posts by tags, and not providing more options for the teacher with the gradebook feature.
  • Controlled access and commenting between, students, teachers and parents.
  • Wide variety of app choices.
  • Student planner is a nice place for them to follow and manage their workload.
  • Teacher's ability to create small groups.
  • Better descriptions of various apps and their functions before purchasing.
  • Teacher and student planner: time feature so the event or task is more specific than just "day".
  • Provide a search or filter feature allowing one to search through posts by date or individual easily.
  • Provide more apps which do not require Flash, so they may be used on iOS devices.
  • Increased collaboration between students and teachers
  • Greater participation and practice of 21st century technology skills
  • An opportunity to try other apps that students and teachers would otherwise not have access to outside of Edmodo.
I have used similar content management systems and learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle, regular blogs (Wordpress, Edublogs), and websites. I prefer Edmodo in the context of the classroom for its simplicity and easy to understand interface.
It is a program that many students will take into middle school. The students may keep their accounts as long as they like, and several free apps follow them as needed.
This is a great tool for collaborating in a closed environment for the classroom. Students can collaborate with one another in small groups using blog features, but it is a safe, closed campus that the teacher has control over. It really is like having a complete classroom online.
