Overall Satisfaction with Epicor ERP

We use Epicor ERP across all of our core business functions: sales, finance, engineering, supply chain and manufacturing.

Pros

  • Querying data is very easy with the built in business activity query builder. Deploying the data in useful dashboards is easy and highly valuable
  • It provides all the core functionality we need to run our engineer to order business
  • Recent addition of the rest API allows integrations and querying of cloud data with 3rd party BI tools

Cons

  • The shop floor data collection screens are not very intuitive and the gui is quite dated
  • Report building in the SaaS environment is very clunky - it is hard to test as you develop reports
  • It is still not fully mobile/web compliant - it is improving, but key functions like the manufacturing data collection still needs Windows based devices to work.
  • Information efficiency is vastly improved - especially in purchasing. We went from excel tracking to job linked PO's. Now we have a dashboard the shows all parts availability that the entire organization can see
  • helping to drive process discipline - forces better behaviours and reduces the use of workarounds
  • Sales pipeline visibility and management is vastly improved over previous access process. The ability to customize query outputs to optimize the users need for information is invaluable.
We have definitely benefited from the dashboarding capabilities. All major functions run off customized dashboards that highlight work the needs to get done and exceptions that need to be addressed. The ability to highly customize the query and the dashboards is providing shop status in ways we have never been able to manage in the past.
Epicor touches all our core business functions. We are early in our deployment and intend to continue to close the gaps in our business process with additional functionality the Epicor offers. Being able to trace an order from initial customer contact, through sales order, engineering, production and invoicing gives us a much more complete picture of the project.
We have no in house IT so the cloud solution works well for us. We would struggle to handle the server maintenance if it was on premise so this is a good solution for us.
I can see we have plenty of room to grow into the solution. I have no concerns with Epicors ability to support our projected future growth.
The support organization has been improving lately, but still has plenty of room for improvement. For the most part, I get resolution to the problems that come up but it is not always seemless and quick. Overall, considering the complexity of the product I am satisfied with the after sales support.
I was not with the company when the selection was performed
For us the cloud solution is a good fit as we have little in house IT support. We have also focused on using it out of the box as we did not have an existing system that was being replaced. Overall, it performs the core ERP functions well and I see the road map heading in the right direction to address mobility and add missing functionality.
