Overall Satisfaction with F5 BIG-IP

LTM, GTM, ASM, APM. Application delivery and visibility.

Pros

  • Ease of configuration management.
  • GUI and CLI options as well as multiple automation options.
  • Software upgrade and roll backs.

Cons

  • Management plane saturation.
  • Config bloat causes slowness.
  • Visibility into historical data.
  • Deployed thousands of load balanced apps.
  • Multiple features like DNS, WAF, and of in-line traffic load balancing necessary for any productions applications.
  • We've been running multiple F5 BIG-IP devices for years and they are a foundational part of our network infrastructure.
Great, but room for improvement. My complaints are mostly around management plane and visibility. I look forward to new products which address these concerns. Otherwise, F5 BIG-IP offering is best in class load balancing.

Application delivery for critical business applications. Even when deployed with a single server, it provides a hook for GTM/DNS and a platform for WAF and there protections.
