Overall Satisfaction with Figma

For an advertising company I use Figma to design Saas software for both lo as wel as hi fidelity. At the moment the problem is that a lot of the work to manage advertisement campaigns is done manually and in code via Github. We want to make this accessible and easier via a front-end platform. The scope is to serve between 25-100 clients.

Pros

  • Visual Design
  • Interaction flows
  • Concepting
  • Prototyping
  • Collaboration

Cons

  • As a paid member I cannot collaborate with another paid members project. This person needs to add me as an editor, for which this person than needs to pay for as well.
  • Make a more easy to use overview of projects. For example: enable me to make tiles/rows bigger or smaller.
  • Nice to have: make a more simple interface variation for stakeholders like product owners.
  • Design system
  • Flow design
  • Prototyping
  • When used at the right moment, Figma can be used to visualize concepts / ideas. This can get a room of stakeholders into the same direction fast.
  • It's suitable for front-end developers, because the code inspect functionality is very well done. This could save up to 25% of their time.
  • The community is active and big. Due to this community I was able to use an existing library that saved me a lot of time (weeks).
With Framer I build websites. Figma has a plugin that I use to directly copy and paste components from Figma into Framer. This helps me deliver a website way faster than when I would have to rebuild the components in Framer from scratch.

Since Figma is not yet very good in animation, I use Principle to create more detailed animations. This is usually on component level. I do not integrate Principle animations into Figma.

Yes

Figma is appropriate for:
  1. Team collaboration
  2. Visual Design
  3. Interaction Design
  4. Prototyping

Figma is less suited for:
  1. Exploration (this would be more Figjam)
  2. Super super lo-fi sketches
