Overall Satisfaction with Figma

We use Figma on a daily basis as the main tool for VD, IxD, and product designers. I am working on concepts, refining designs, creating specifications, and generating assets in Figma. Many times, I also present my work directly from a working file using a click-through prototype.
  • As a visual designer, I spend 90% of my working time in Figma. So, as a design tool, Figma is mature and feature-rich. It covers all the basic needs and provides extras, such as simple prototyping and the ability to use external plugins.
  • Collaboration: It’s very easy to work together on the same file in Figma. You can easily brainstorm together or use Figma as a shared screen.
  • Smartness of components: Figma provides many adaptability options for components that allow building very flexible and scalable layouts.
  • Requires an internet connection. I take a train to go to work, and cellular connection on the train is limited. So, I have a hard time trying to access an open file in Figma or even quickly change the style of a label.
  • Vector assets need to be double-checked after export. Many times, I see broken shapes and artifacts in SVG files after export. Sometimes it helps to go through all the points of the shape and remove unnecessary ones. However, sometimes I have to open the shape in Illustrator or Sketch and export it from there.
  • Performance. Sometimes, I experience performance issues even on the Mac with the M1 Max chip. I just need to sit and wait for the tool, like 15 years ago with Photoshop.
  • Sharing. Figma has the ability to share a link to any selected element, but many times I experience that the link leads just to the file, and the person has to search for the page, then for the dartboard, and then for the particular element.
  • Collaboration. Figma allow to work on the same file together in a very simple way.
  • Flexibility. The tool is suitable for a simple concepts and refined design and specifications. It also suitable for both interaction and visual part of the product.
  • Simplicity: Figma has a low entry point, so the work file can be easily shared with a developer, product manager, or a customer.
  • Figma has positively improved collaboration among different designers across multiple domains in the organization.
  • It also serves as a single place to look for any design file or specifications.
We switched from Sketch to Figma 3 years ago. Back then Figma provided more flexibility to build design systems, collaborate between designers and work on the same files.

ChatGPTI think Figma is a great tool for teamwork and is suitable for interaction, visual, and product designers. It has many good and well-implemented instruments that allow for the creation of modern, scalable interfaces. However, Figma also has some limitations, such as very limited support for raster graphics.
