Overall Satisfaction with Filevine

We are a medium sized law firm that previously used Prevail Case Management software. We wanted something that was web based (platform agnostic) that offered integration with other platforms (zapier, workato, and webhook capability). We needed a fully customizable case management product that we could adapt for our unique law type.

Pros

  • Customization - you can easily add sections and fields
  • Workato and Zapier integration works well - we can connect Filevine to a multitude of other platforms and services
  • Texting and faxing is available across the entire platform
  • Integration with Vinesign for e-signature completion

Cons

  • The reporting engine is good but lacks in depth logic (or, and, if)
  • The annual contract renewal of services can seem a little disorganized and unhinged.
  • Appointments cannot be easily reassigned if an employee leaves the firm
  • Our intake process has been fast tracked using Filevine
  • Remote users can just use a web page on their personal device (phone, pc or mac)
  • We have repurposed our front desk / reception call logger by using a custom layout
  • Our attorney's have their own private projects for case lists which scripts updates to our executive management
Training material is on the weak side because of the flexibility of customization. I would suggest (once you have solidified and finalized your fields and sections) writing your own in house training material.

The product is mostly intuitive but your mileage way vary depending on the complexity of your law firm processes.

Prepare, plan and consider all of your layouts, fields and sections carefully. Consider every aspect of what you need. You will need to invest considerable time before you go-live, especially if you practice multiple law types.

If you're looking for a fully integrated case management platform that provides customization, document generation and reporting then you cannot go wrong with Filevine. The folder sharing replaces Dropbox, the PDF manipulation includes bates numbering and redaction. The document generation engine helps create docgens from templates.
