Overall Satisfaction with Fortinet FortiGate
Two of our major sites are currently protected by Fortinet FortiGate Enterprise level products. Both sites have an HA Fortigate solutions ensuring network segmentation, network protection (IDS, WAF, Firewall, SSL inspection, .....) and IPSec VPN connection towards our cloud services, telco operators and remote sites. Our cloud services and remote sited aren't using Fortinet technologies and are a mix of other brand security appliances and products but the integrations has been quite easy. Actually, even if we can find similar services and products offered by many other companies, I find the Fortinet line of products a bit easy to maintain while leveraging all the availability, resilience and security we need.
Pros
- WAF
- IDS/IPS
- Network segmentation
- QOS
Cons
- The interface, even if intuitive, has room for improvement. Sometimes, The WAF and IDS/IPS are a bit too much aggressive and need careful tuning (even if this problem is quite common).
- Compared to the previous products we were using in our two datacneters, the Fortinet FortiGate ensured a 250% ROI in three years thanks to the easier maintenance, performances (compared to the entry level price) and quite complete "ecosystem".
