Overall Satisfaction with Gemini

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Use primarily to generate images for event flyers and advertisements. We use clipart services, but a lot of the time is spent searching through hundreds of images to find one that does most of the things that are needed, then spend more time in Photoshop manipulating them to meet specific needs. Gemini is helping reduce that search/creation time.

Cons

Faces in generated images can be kind of scary looking, deformed.
When asking for specific text in an image, it often generates funky randomly spelled text instead.
Tried a bulk image search with uploaded png files to find the same images online and the links it provided were 404 errors instead.

Return on Investment

Saves time/labor costs in generating customized images for posters, etc.
Clients have been pleased with the level of art created.
Beginning to explore other ways to use the tool, such as basic copywriting to cut time/labor costs there as well.

Usability

Like learning to play checkers, the interface is easy, but the strategy has more of a learning curve. Figuring out the best prompts to use to get the desired outcome with less tries is taking me awhile to develop that skill. The images that I am able to generate are close to "camera-ready", but most do require some tweaking in image editing software to fix AI artifacts like distorted faces and randomly spelled words.

Alternatives Considered

Adobe Acrobat

I admittedly haven't used other products that much, although have dabbled a bit with Adobe Acrobat's AI features. Gemini is pretty much my go-to however, as the interface is easy and readily available anywhere using my web browser. The image generation feature that I primarily use in Gemini meets most of my current AI needs.

Likelihood to Recommend

With some practice in crafting prompts, works well for generating cartoons, photos, simulated paintings, etc. for use in posters without requiring too much editing. The resolution however is not especially high, so for high end printwork, it might not be as appropriate. If you need to be sure of copyright, I don't feel confident that it follows all the rules, so if that is important, be sure to research further.
