Overall Satisfaction with GiveSmart
At both organizations where I have used GiveSmart (previously MobileCause), we have GiveSmart for: peer to peer fundraising campaigns including large scale tracking for volunteer solicitors who raise money for us through each year; for do-it-yourself fundraising options like donate your birthday/anniversary/wedding shower or tribute pages; to provide text to give options during in person events; and for virtual events fundraising - especially during the COVID crisis. GiveSmart provides flexibility and permits to empower donors to set up their own fundraisers on our behalf. It provides great tracking of progress to goals and the interface for reporting is easy to us.
Pros
- Text to Give fundraising - provides convenience for donors to make commitment and then pay at their convenience.
- Peer to Peer fundraising - provides great options for peer to peer campaigns including the ability to record off line gifts to individual fundraisers or teams.
- Events Management - GiveSmart gave us the flexibility to switch many of our event activities to virtual experiences during the COVID crisis which we greatly appreciated and have continued to use for some of our smaller events.
Cons
- Would like to be able to save reporting criteria for daily gift downloads.
- Would like to be able to save several export field options for various reporting.
- Would like the ability to delete or repurpose keywords.
- Would like the ability to change team names and have those changes reflected in the url for the teams fundraising pages.
- Has improved our ability to respond quickly to provide fundraising options during crises or for tribute pages.
- Has increased the amount of revenue that is processed online versus page checks, bank deposits, etc.
- Gives the donors ability to directly monitor their personal fundraising efforts with peer to peer and tribute fundraising.
- Improved stewardship - peer to peer and tribute fundraisers are able to reach out personally to thank those who donate to their pages. This volunteer appreciation is often more valuable to a donor than a thank you from a staff person.
- Blackbaud Everyday Hero Pro (discontinued)
Have also used Blackbaud Peer to Peer powered by JustGiving which is not on the above list.
GiveSmart gave us the most overall flexibility and the ability to add offline donations to fundraiser and team page, which Everyday Hero did provide us but JustGiving did not. This inability to record offline giving was a primary motivator in the decision to move to GiveSmart based on my experience as a past organization rather than selecting Just Giving when Blackbaud discontinued Everyday Hero.

Our organization is able to each customize each page, donation forms, reply text/emails. This in another area where GiveSmart excels.
