Overall Satisfaction with Google BigQuery
As a Data Analyst at my previous company, I dealt primarily with large datasets. Being able to retrieve that data was an important aspect of my job and Google BigQuery made it a lot easier for me. Having worked with the Operations team, I had to use the data in place to find out patterns in them and retrieve a large amount of sales data. At my former organization, BigQuery was used across the organization and it helped a lot to keep all our data at once place with easy access control.
- Huge plus point if you have idea running SQL scripts.
- The ability to store and manage multiple data warehouses is a big plus point which helps a lot for growing businesses.
- Easy integration with tools like Data Studio and Google Analytics which provides great data warehouse and data management solutions.
- Can't use it out of Google's cloud platform which is a minus point if you want a local setup.
- Can be a little expensive to manage.
- A little difficult to manage someone with less technical expertise as it requires you to have SQL knowledge of joins, CTEs etc.
- The ability to handle large and complex datasets and provide all out data warehousing and analytical solution.
- You can transfer your SQL skills here and that can save your organization ton of money spent on training.
- Everything can be stored at a secure and safe cloud system.
- Integrate well with google data visualization tools that can save a lot of money on licensing of other tools.
- Requires basic SQL skills which are transferrable and saves money spent on training.
- Gives an all out data retrieval and storage service which makes it a lot easier for employees across organization to fetch data.
I have used Snowflake and DataGrip for data retrieval as well as Google BigQuery and can say that all these tools compete for head to head. It is very difficult to say which is better than the other but some features provided by Google BigQuery give it an edge over the others. For example, the reliability of Google is unmatchable by others. One thing that I really like is the ability to integrate Data Studio so easily with Google BigQuery.
