Overall Satisfaction with Google Compute Engine

For hybrid cloud solution we decided to use the separated cloud provider as a DR (pilot light model) in our project. Compute Engine was created in one Region with general purpose machine family. The project requirements were set - one of the first priorities - cloud provider independence.
  • Project base access.
  • Well tested DR scenario.
  • Competitive overall prices.
  • Less flexible machine type selection.
  • Sometimes non-intuitive interface.
  • Limited network configuration.
  • The best price/performance factor in cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Anticipated costs.
  • Time to market - due to reused scenario.
The best GCP products - GKE for containerization workload fit to the VM machines specified for different application type (monolithic). These services can be easily integrated with each other with additional benefits.
Environment is quite stable, thus I haven't needed to use help from support. Hard to say if there would be bigger issues during the project. Each case could be different.

Do you think Google Compute Engine delivers good value for the price?

Would you buy Google Compute Engine again?

AWS Lambda, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon CloudFront
It is a stable service created by Google. The quality of service is good enough to create a full fledged production environment.
