Overall Satisfaction with Google Sheets

Long time heavy excel user...switched and utilize Google Sheets for most (but not all) spreadsheet work. The work from home (with the switching being in the office and home) has made [working] through the pandemic easier. It is used by accounting only. I also use the Google Suite with my home financials also.
  • Autosave
  • Multiple browser solution
  • Ability to work on Mac and Windows
  • Auto update of pivot tables
  • Pivot tables are different but could be improved upon; sort, totals, filters
  • When entering negative numbers as the first in a formula you need to remember to "+-100+25" instead of "-100+25"
  • The power of the internet of course makes it easy to find solution, but the help function is not easily available
  • Color coding changes on the cell, but there is not an easy way to click on a cell and use the selected color; like excel
  • Don't need to pay for windows 365 license as it is free
  • Has a positive impact since I am not cursing excel for annoying problems(I don't want the new Pivot table format, I want to use Classic and I don't want to expand/collapse arrows. "x$#%")
  • [Haven't] looked at return on investment on work, but has "simplified" for basic and medium spreadsheets.
Microsoft Excel and Numbers on Mac. Used the first reiteration of the Windows 365 and was terrible.

It stacks up well against excel due to power of two other Google products 1) Google search and 2) YouTube. If you cannot find an article or video to help you might be disappointed but keep looking.

Do you think Google Sheets delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Google Sheets's feature set?

Yes

Did Google Sheets live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Google Sheets go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Google Sheets again?

Yes

  • Love that [Google Sheets] has an autosave feature when editing as we all have wasted recreating a spreadsheet in Excel when your computer restarts; which it always does but the one time you are working on a huge project and you forget to hit save before you go home
  • The ability to pull up through a browser at home, and one at work, doesn't require you to send emails back and forth; which needed to do with excel.
  • cannot think of an scenarios where it isnt appropriate.
  • Ditched Windows after the Vista debacle to Mac and hands down Google sheets is better than Sheets.
