Overall Satisfaction with HG Insights Platform

I lead a team responsible for business insights and customer segmentation at Oracle. We leverage HG Insights Platform data to understand business dynamics across the markets we serve, develop business projections, identify competitive presence, and support our segmentation efforts. Some specific business problems we have been tackling with the HGI data include defining Sales Plays, designing Sales Territories, and targeting Competitive Take-out. We just completed our FY26 planning and developed several customer segments leveraging HG Insights data.

Pros

  • Identification of Competitive Presence and its trending over time
  • Modeling of IT Spending
  • Market Analysis through the SaaS Platform

Cons

  • Product Taxonomy and alignment of vendors with industry Taxonomy could be improved. Some products show up multiple times with different naming variations
  • Leverage HGI data to get more in the type of IDC/Gartner market studies
  • Company Taxonomy/hierarchies and firmo-graphics
  • We haven't been very good in measuring results yet. We have several initiatives where we applied HGI data and hope to be better at measuring going forward. But we believe the data has been helpful
  • Oracle internal data through our Customer Data Platform database
  • Our own Oracle Unity CDP tool for segmentation
  • Our Business Intelligence tools
  • Our Sales Planning tool and underlying CRM
  • It would be great to have out of box integration with Oracle Unity CDP and Oracle FUsion Sales (CRM/CX)
We became better at competitive targeting. We haven't used much of HG Insights Platform's AI powered products yet.
The SaaS Platform is very easy to use and very intuitive. But when using data feeds, some of the data products can be very large and complex to integrate internally.
- Sales Intel seems to be more of a direct competition. Their human research seems to be something interesting. Also the claim to focus on firmographics
- We went with Bombora for intent technology in the past
- We did not move forward with 6sense

The HG Insights Platform offering for technographics is fairly unique for B2B marketers in IT. It provides critical data for market analysis, competitive analysis, and segmentation work. While IDC/Gartner studies help provide an initial understanding of how segments are structured, HGI's data enables execution. Its bottom-up approach allows account-level understanding and execution by individual reps.
