Overall Satisfaction with Human Interest
Human Interest is/was our 401k provider. As a start up and first time business owner it was supposed to be an easy way for my wife and I to provide a benefit to our caregivers without worrying about excessive compliance or manual entry given it wasn’t required for us to do at this stage.
Pros
- Integrate with Gusto
- Website is clean and easy in the eyes
- Great company name
Cons
- Sales team doesn’t disclose levels of integration at the beginning (eg previous payroll system wasn’t a true integration although it was sold such as)… found out later that people were making elections and it wasn’t being taken from their paycheck because it wasn’t a true 360 integration with payroll. On top of that , we were being charged hundreds of dollars for a benefit we weren’t using.
- Poor communication - took 3-4 months and hundreds of dollars to eventually communicate vital discrimination laws that would have impacted us started 401k in the first place
- Negative ROI. Were were being charged fees for a benefit we weren’t receiving. Lost trust in the company . Also sold on the idea of integration and it wasn’t really an integration. Involved manual work out start up simply did not have the bandwidth for. If we had known, we would have never signed up
- Added unnecessary and expensive complexity to our start up
