Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers
We are trying it out to see how we like it. We are using it mainly to deploy docker containers on bare metal servers. We are currently at a host that seems to have off and on reliability, and we wanted to give someone else a try with our business.
Pros
- More options for machines configurations.
- More robust machines.
- More services.
- Better customization of bare metal servers.
Cons
- The entire interface, it can be slow and confusing.
- They could drop their prices more which would attract more startups.
- Sometimes the pricing can be confusing; that could be a LOT clearer.
- Navigation can be improved greatly.
- At the moment, they cost a little more than we we are using now, but IBM has better hardware.
- We will save time and money from our machines not being down as often.
- We will save time and money by not having machines that will completely crash on us.
We are waiting to see how that works and have only deployed our first machine.
Not sure as of yet. So far, it seems like it has a lot of nice features. If anything, we can definitely say it is easier to figure out what machine to deploy and configure over something like VMWare where you have to have a lot of training in order to do it just right. OpenStack can be tricky to setup. At least with IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers, you can get up and going relatively fast. I have seen VMs fail to deploy on AWS or you are told you have to move your VM to a different instance time due to the instance type expiring.
