Great flexibility, capacity and peace of mind for our instrastructure needs
Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers
We use our IBM Bare Metal Servers for most of our server infrastructure needs, either in-house services, or hosted services for customers, and also prototypes and demos. We develop services for contact centers, so it's important to be able to build a very specific feature and prototype it quickly, mirroring as closely as possible the customer's environment, whether they run Bare Metal, VMs or containers. With our IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers we have been able to provide a solution efficiently.
Pros
- Strong reliability
- Availability of servers and capacities.
- Network capacity and pricing.
Cons
- Better hardware options for longer terms.
- Better pricing for longer terms.
- Better upgrade incentives to move to newer hardware.
- It's difficult to measure the positive sales impact of having a prototype ready quickly, available, and running strongly.
- It's great to have a known fixed cost per month.
We've also had good success with Mac colocation services like MacStadium, being cheaper with unlimited networking, quite dependable and also very flexible when used with VMware, but with IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers we have a lot more options on data center locations, fantastic network routing between data centers and any server capacity I would need. With regards to Azure, AWS, etc., those models just don't work for our projects, too many restrictions on networking and other details. IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers are just easier.
