Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Block Storage

We use block storage throughout our infrastructure to reliably ensure data sharing between the various nodes of our cluster as well as the containers that run within it. That allows us to dynamically scale services that will share common data with the security that they will have of the data they need in real time.
In our experience using the service, even with auto snapshots we have not had the need to make use of that since our downtime has been almost equal to 0% (moreover, I do not remember if there was ever a problem and for us that is critical)
  • Correct efficiency for the use of ISCSI

  • The documentation must be clearer and updated, thinking about each distribution that they offer in the cloud

  • The configuration can be more automated from the same control panel and not have to take it so much to the CLI

The biggest difference that I have been able to find from other services external to IBM has been the domain, experience and application of the technology at the datacenter scale that allows [us] to be quite sure that the data will be in good collection. But I insist that the most important value I have been able to find is the variable and high IOPS setting, which virtually allows you to handle large volumes, that is, big data without major problems and we walk that way.

The service in general is great because on the backend. IBM offers experience and knowledge in the use of data center technologies undeniably.
I recommend it for almost any situation but particularly for databases and especially large ones. That possibility of adjusting IOPS dynamically to levels that other data centers do not offer makes it unique. I don't recommend using the service if you don't have an infrastructure expert who knows about servers, Linux, and storage because a lot of the configuration and settings require an expert hand.
